The help

The extreme form of human helplessness is reflected when people beg, signifying they are incapable of doing anything better. Sometimes, it is an option of an easy livelihood instead of searching for work. Then there are other people who work against all odds instead of spreading their arms to beg. The absence of resources does not bother them as their canvas is the street roads and walls. Such efforts are commendable as such people at least tried to work in their own way.

God helps those who helps themselves!

Going by rational sense of thinking, begging does signifies extreme helplessness. I feel it’s applicable to situations when someone can’t work because of physical disability or they have been a victim to extreme monetary exploitation (by landlords) which renders them cashless and they are left with accumulated debts. In countries where government is adept to extend benefits to its citizen, begging is rarely seen.

I would also agree that few unscrupulous elements have commercialized begging at public places like traffic signal, market place and made it a business for which they bring in children, women. It’s pathetic and again raises questions on government. In case government implements strict measures where every citizen in working age group has works to do (depending on qualifications), begging can be uprooted or else the story will go on and on.
